Dosa Sambar

Dosa is one of the india’s great culinary delicacies. It is served with sambhar, lightly spiced lentil tempered with Indian spices. Dosa is simple to make as long as you do it with patience and love. Follow the recipe below for the perfect crispy dosa 🙂

Ingredients for Dosa:

  • 3 cups Rice (boiled rice or Idli rice works best)
  • 1 cup Urad Daal
  • Salt as per taste
 

Directions:

  • Soak Rice and Uard daal overnight in water for about 8-10 hours
  • Next day grind it fine using blender and turn it into a smooth batter
  • Let it sit for another 5-6 hours for crispy dosas. (same batter can be used for making idli)
  • Follow the process shown in the video to make dosa.

Ingredients for Sambar:

  • 2 cup boiled Tuvar daal
  • 1/2 sliced onion
  • 1/2 cut tomatoes
  • 1/2 cut bottle guard
  • 6 tblsp sambar masala ( I use mom made masala but you can use any sambar masala; MTR is my favorite)
  • 1 tblsp of tamarind paste
  • pinch of asafoetida
  • pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tblsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tblsp cumin seeds
  • green curry leaves
  • Salt as per taste 
 
Directions:
 
  • In a pressure cooker, heat 4 tblsp of oil.
  • Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds to it and let it pop. Along with it add turmeric powder and pinch of asafoetida.
  • Mix sliced onions, bottle guard and tomatoes to the oil and cook it for 5-7 mins.
  • Add some green curry leaves and sambar masala. Mix everything well
  • Add boiled tuvar daal and some water.
  • Let it whistle once so everything will cook perfect.
